About Me
I'm Jill Maglio, an Occupational Therapist with more than 15 years of experience helping children, adolescents, and adults live fuller, more independent lives. What makes my work a little different is the tool I use: circus arts. I've spent my career exploring how movement, play, and performance can open doors that traditional therapy sometimes can't. I've worked with kids in K-12 schools, partnering with the New York Board of Education to support students' growth and participation in everyday life. I've also collaborated with governmental and non-governmental organizations to bring occupational therapy to communities around the world — including political and environmental refugees. In those settings, I've developed programs, trained fellow professionals, and gathered evidence to show what works. Whether a client is a child learning foundational skills or an adult rebuilding confidence, I meet them where they are and build from there. My goal is always the same: help each person participate more fully in the life that matters to them.
Why Clients Love Working With Me
Clients often tell me that working with me feels different — in a good way. Bringing circus arts into therapy makes sessions feel engaging rather than clinical, which helps people stay motivated and make real progress. I've worked with a wide range of people across many cultures and life situations, so I know how to adjust my approach to fit each person's unique needs and goals. I care deeply about the whole person — not just the challenge in front of us — and I think clients feel that from the start.
